Who Watches the Toaster? Licensed toasters from Dynamite include the Watchmen
We'd like to think that even Alan Moore could smile about this one at some point: Dynamic Forces has partnered with Warner Bros. for a a line of licensed toasters. Properties include The Wizard of Oz, A Christmas Story, Where the Wild Things Are, The Goonies, Gremlins, Little Shop of Horrors, Watchmen, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Mad Magazine, Friends, and so on.
And yes, these toasters will burn Gizmo or Freddie Krueger right on to your toast for breakfast thrills!
Last Minute to dos: FEYNMAN at College Park.; Lee & Johns @ Midtown
Oops, these events came in the emailbox a bit late but still deserve some attention. Wonder if anyone will show up to that Midtown signing?
New DARK KNIGHT RISES trailer
Oh damn, they are blowing up New York again. How many times...
When things were friendly: Rorschach's first appearance in the DCU…back in 1988
As a lagniappe to the current "All Things Alan Moore" wiki currently going on in our comments, here's Pádraig Ó Méalóid with a little-remembered crossover between the Watchmen and the Question...that took place all the way back in
THE QUESTION #17, June 1988. Think of it as "The Five Doctors" of this particular timeline.
DC launches all-ages DC Nation app and magazine
As any parents out there know, the iPhone/tablet as babysitter is a rapidly growing tradition among harried moms and dads. And as reported in Variety, DC is launching a DC Nation app to take advantage of this market—and grow future readers.
DiDio and Lee speak on Roberson, Before Watchmen, etc: here's that spade to dig...
This weekend at the LA Times Book Festival, Dan DiDio and Jim Lee appeared on a panel, moderated by Geoff Boucher and in a press roundtable beforehand, to talk about BEFORE WATCHMEN. The Beat's own Shannon O'Leary has a nice, succinct report on their comments here at PW, and from what we understand, she asked some of the tough questions of the pair. So for those of you wondering when the eager "Will the Comedian be raping many people?" fan questions at events like C2E2 would stop, the DC brass have been faced with actual questions.
Before Watchmen and New 52 Wave Two art revealed: is it really a leak...
Last week, BuzzFeed, the hugely popular "viral" media site, went on a photo tour of DC's offices, including a slideshow that we now can't find that included shots of publicity VP David Hyde's office. Which was ironic, since early last week it was announced Hyde was leaving DC.
Well apparently, while on that tour someone held open the ultra-secret notebook of Watchmen art, which was handcuffed to Bob Wayne's wrist at the retailer summit week before last.
Chris Roberson no longer writing FAIREST arc
Unsurprisingly, after his public statement on not working with DC over their ethical practices towards creators yesterday, it turns out Chris Roberson's arc on FAIREST, the FABLES spin-off, will not get written.
Changes at DC Comics publicity; David Hyde leaving–UPDATED
DC Entertainment has confirmed that VP of Publicity David Hyde is leaving that job at the end of the week.
The mystery of DC, comiXology, and the Kindle Fire may never be publicly solved
At the C2E2 comiXology panel it was confirmed that DC graphic novels are no longer being sold through Kindle Fire's comiXology app, and CEO David Steinberger said it was intentional. However the reasons are hidden behind many layers of NDAs.
This is all odd because you can certainly still buy DC books via Amazon and their Kindle store. You can purchase tons of DC comics from comiXology, on the web and their IOS app. Apparently, you just can't buy DC Comics through the Kindle Fire comiXology app (we don't have a Kindle Fire handy to check).
First look at interior BEFORE WATCHMEN art –UPDATED with final art
This art will all be available at the Before Watchmen website later today. Live from #c2e2
