Back in October DC and Marvel announced a pair of new crossovers between Superman and Spider-Man in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the pair’s first meeting. Today DC released details on the creators involved in the March-shipping Superman/Spider-Man #1, as well as the pairings that will appear in the one-shot’s backup stories.
The new Superman/Spider-Man #1 will retail for $7.99, headlined by a main feature from Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez:
When journalists Clark Kent and Peter Parker find themselves chasing the same story, the conspiracy they uncover could change the world—especially if Brainiac and Doctor Octopus have anything to say about it. (And we bet they do!) Good thing our intrepid newshounds are secretly Superman and the amazing Spider-Man. To bring this clash of reporters‑turned‑heroes to life, Mark Waid and Jorge Jiménez join forces to headline DC’s Superman/Spider-Man #1 with an unforgettable lead story.
Waid is a natural choice for the story, having written both Superman and Spider-Man in the past, and Jiménez is one of DC’s true superstar artists. This creative team seems like a slam dunk.
The issue will also include seven back-up stories, as follows:
- Lois Lane and Mary Jane Watson by Tom King and Jim Lee
- Jimmy Olsen and Carnage by Matt Fraction and Steve Lieber
- Superboy and Spider-Man 2099 by Sean Murphy
- Power Girl and The Punisher by Gail Simone and Belén Ortega
- Superboy-Prime and Symbiote Spider-Man by Christopher Priest and Daniel Sampere
- The Daily Planet and The Daily Bugle by Greg Rucka and Nicola Scott
- Pa Kent and Uncle Ben by Jeff Lemire and Rafa Sandoval
If you stopped reading after ‘Jimmy Olsen and Carnage by Fraction and Lieber’, I wouldn’t blame you, as that has to be the most insane pairing imaginable from the only creative team equipped to pull it off.
Along with the creative and character teams, DC also unveiled a preliminary lineup of twenty-two (that’s 22) variant covers for the one-shot. Here’s the available cover art and creators:
Jim Lee, Scott Williams and Alex Sinclair
Daniel Sampere and Tomeu Morey
Dave Johnson
David Nakayama
Gabriele Dell’Otto
Mikel Janín
Raphael Albuquerque
Stanley “Artgerm” Lau
Additional variant covers will feature art by David Talaski, Arthur Adams, Chrissie Zullo, Josh Middleton, Scott Koblish, Olivier Coipel, Adam Hughes, Mitch Gerads, Jeff Spokes, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Steve Lieber, J. Scott Campbell, Clayton Crain, and Rafael Sandoval. The main cover by Jiménez will also be available as a foil variant. More artists and covers are yet to be announced. At $8.99 a pop, if you’re planning to buy all the covers you’d better start saving your pennies now.
Superman/Spider-Man #1 is the latest intercompany crossover between DC and Marvel. This year saw a pair of Batman and Deadpool crossovers, with Marvel’s releasing in September and DC’s out in November. Last month the publishers also released two digital-exclusive crossovers, Thor/Shazam and The Flash/Fantastic Four, via their respective streaming comics services.
Following the release of DC’s Batman/Deadpool #1, anecdata from a number of retailers showed lower sales for the one-shot than for it’s Marvel predecessor, with readers chiming in with observations about confusion over whether the issue was a reprint of the previous Marvel one-shot or simply a new set of covers for the same story. With DC first out of the gate for Superman/Spider-Man #1, will the same fate befall Marvel’s release? Time – and vocal retailers – will tell.
Look for Superman/Spider-Man #1 to arrive in stores on Wednesday, March 25th, 2026.

Charge more money for the regular cover and variant covers as Marvel DC??? Again??? Not a smart move…
