It seems like just seven scant days ago we were here, reading… and now it’s time for Weekend Reading 63. Coincidence? It seems doubtful! But whatever sinister machinations might be at work, we already know what we’re going to be spending the next couple of days doing…

AVERY KAPLAN: This weekend, I’m going to be checking out Star Trek: The Manga: Kakan ni Shinkou. This book follows Those Old Scientists (TOS) on several new adventures… and one of the stories was even written by Wil Wheaton! Wow! Then, to keep it an all-Enterprise-D weekend, my prose reading will be Aftermath: A Novel of the Future by none other than LeVar Burton. Take a look, it’s in a book — weekend reading!
TAIMUR DAR: The Netflix adaptation of Jeff Lemire’s Sweet Tooth comic just dropped and since it’s now available on the DC Universe Infinite platform, I’m taking a deep dive into the comics before watching the series. It’s yet another comic that’s been on my bucket list for the last decade that I’m only now getting to now that I have all the time in the world.
DEAN SIMONS: Busy, busy, busy. This looks to be a hectic month. I am uncertain how much time I will get to consistently read but what I am managing at the moment are bits of DC’s Deadman and 2000AD’s Sinister Dexter collections. ‘SinDex’ is a series that has been running in 2000AD since 1995. Created by Dan Abnett and David Millgate, and loosely inspired by Travolta and Jackson’s characters from Pulp Fiction, it features two top gun sharks (contract killers) and their misadventures in the futuristic central European city of Downlode. In the past few years Hachette have been doing extensive partworks of Judge Dredd and the 2000AD pantheon so it is nice to be able to dive into the early days of series at my leisure…like this weekend!
