The arrival of the second Saturday in September means the arrival of Weekend Reading 128… not to mention a full moon! Here at Stately Beat Manor, we’ll be avoiding attacks by lycanthropes by staying inside and digging into our reading list backlog.

As ever, we sincerely hope that you’ll share your weekend reading plans with us, as well! Give us a shout-out, right here in the comment section or over on social media @comicsbeat, and let us know what you’ll be paging through this weekend.

Weekend Reading 128
Weekend Reading 128: Moon Knight omnibus.

AVERY KAPLAN: Is it possible my desire to read about the Fist of Khonshu waxes and wanes with the lunar phases? If so, maybe tonight’s full moon is to blame for my reading this weekend: the Moon Knight omnibus collecting the 2006 run, as well as Moon Knight: Silent Knight, Vengeance of the Moon Knight, and Shadowland: Moon Knight. While there are dozens of creators involved over the course of these runs, selected writers Charlie Huston, Mike Benson, and Gregg Hurwitz are the three credited on the front cover. I’ve never read these runs and am eager to further my personal quest to read the entire history of the Marvel Comics incarnation of Moon Knight.

Weekend Reading 128: Hi Score Girl.

TAIMUR DAR: Awhile back I watched an anime called Hi Score Girl and was really charmed about this story about Japanese arcade game culture in the early ‘90s. After watching the anime, I want to check out the original manga by Rensuke Oshikiri so I’m reading the first volume and subsequent ones through the libby app. I also have the DC’s Saved by the Belle Reve anthology sitting on my read pile so I’m eager to get to that this weekend.

Weekend Reading 128: Maggie the Mechanic.

DEAN SIMONS: It’s finally the weekend and a much needed one after a thoroughly topsy-turvy week in Blighty. For escapism I am reading Osamu Tezuka’s Black Jack (currently on volume 5), and the post Armor Hunters era of the Robert Venditti run of X-O Manowar (#30 onwards), with Diego Bernard on art. Additionally, I finally found the time to download and organise my DRM-free digital copies of the Hernandez’s Love & Rockets which I procured off Humble Bundle. I have been rereading the first volume – Maggie the Mechanic – in HD, without freezing and crashing. Luxury!
