Matt Wagner’s Grendel first appeared in October 1982, in Comico Primer #2, and the tale of the assassin Hunter Rose and his successors, have continued and survived some four decades. Now fans can get their hands on a special commemorative Grendel statue of the legendary evil mastermind exclusively from Dark Horse Direct.

Grendel statue

The Grendel statue is 11.25” tall and 5” wide and will be limited to 500 units, each containing a special certificate of authenticity. It will set you back $249.99 but you have to admit it looks pretty freaking sweet.

Dark Horse:

“Designed and concepted by Grendel creator Matt Wagner, sculpted by Steve Kiwus, with prototyping and paint by J. W. Productions, this polyresin statue features the elegant costumed assassin as he looms over the city with his two-pronged fork, ready to strike. Grendel stands at 11.25” tall on a 5” wide base adorned with his signature bright red rose, dutifully watching over the city.”

Grendel Statue

Matt Wagner,

Grendel has stood the test of time like few other independent comics so this striking all-new statue seems like the perfect monument to celebrate and commemorate the character’s 40th anniversary!  I couldn’t be happier with how Darkhorse Direct and sculptor Steve Kiwus have brought my original design to life.  This evocative and beautiful piece is a must-have for any serious Grendel collector.”

To acquire the statue you will need to preorder it at Dark Horse Direct. Orders are limited to 2 per customer and it will be expected to ship between May and July 2023.

Not a bad time to be a Grendel fan – since Netflix announced last year that an adaptation starring Abubakr Ali was on the way.
