As announced last month, Image Comics has started its OWN monthly sales chart,  showing their top 10 in both the direct market (periodical comcis) and bookstores (graphic novels.)

Methodology: The charts track new releases and are based on the number of orders placed by the DM on the singles and the number of orders combined placed by the DM and book market on books.

The July charts are now up and we’re reposting them here with our own commentary,

The return of the classic Witchblade franchise tops Image’s periodical charts, showing there’s life in those old faves. Elsewhere, all is well, with Saga, the Energon universe books and Spawn doing well. And Void Rivals, the Energon book that isn’t quite an Energon book, is still selling like one.

In the book segment, once again it was the Hasbro-based Energon universe leading the charge with the first Cobra Commander collection.  Ed Brubaker and Marcos Martin’s third Friday collection was number 2, proving the Brub still has the juice – He also charts at #5 with Fatale. Elsewhere, it’s a pretty eclectic list of books, with a Ghost Machine volume coming in at #6 and a introductory collection for  Kyle Higgin’s Massive-Verse shows readers are liking these new shared universe imprints.
