It’s time for another look at what Comixology has on sale right now.  What are the good reads and what are the good buys?  We’ll be taking a look mostly at the sales that are ending by Thursday and what an eclectic set of digital comics it is.

(Disclosure: If you buy something we link to on our site, we may earn commission.)

The biggest sale ending in the next week (Monday 10/5) is the DC Events Sale.  The discount isn’t uniform across the sale, but you’ll find some 70% off items in there. There’s quite a bit there, particularly if you like Batman events, so have a browse, but we’d also like to draw your attention to a couple items of interest:

The Multiversity Deluxe Edition is 450 pages for $5.99 (70% off) and get you Grant Morrison and a cadre of artists riffing on different styles of comics while exploring Morrison’s vision of the multiverse.  Lots of fun.

If you want to go old school, Hawkworld is Tim Truman’s SF post-crisis reboot of Hawkman.  It’s one of the better entries from the late 80s series of “Dark Knight format” prestige relaunches.

Moving off in a very different direction, there’s the Attack on Titan sale that runs through Wednesday (9/30). If you haven’t tried Attack on Titan, it lives up to the hype.  What starts out as more of a dark fantasy or horror comic slowly turns into a political thriller… with naked giants that eat people, of course.  The discount on most of the material is only 45%, but Attack on Titan Vol. 1 is a mere $0.99, so if you ever wanted to try it…

You can also sample first volume of the prequel series Attack on Titan: Before the Fall for $0.99.

Continuing the tour of current sales, we find The Boys is 50% off through Thursday (10/1).  Currently enjoying it’s second season on Amazon Prime as one of the more popular comics adaptions of the moment, this one is not for children.  Ultraviolence, off-color humor and a lot more heart than you’d expect for the subject matter.  If you’re looking to dive in, you can save some money with the Omnibus editions.

The Boys Omnibus Vol. 1

Heading back to Kodansha’s corner, there’s also a Hiro Mashima Sale through Wednesday (9/30).  Like the Attack on Titan sale, these are 45% off, but the first volumes are $0.99.  While I haven’t read these and can’t comment on the quality, that’s a good buy if you want to sample a series and Fairy Tail ran 63 volumes.

Fairy Tale V. 1 Eden Zero

And that brings us back to Marvel, which has the Civil War II Sale running until Thursday (10/1).  I, personally, would not consider Civil War II a highlight of modern Marvel.  On the other hand, you can snag Vol. 2 of the Tom Taylor All-New Wolverine run for $3.99, which is 64% off.  Taylor is probably best known for DC work like DCeased and Injustice, but his All-New Wolverine run is excellent.  This would be the Laura Kinney/X-23 version of Wolverine, from the time period while Logan was “dead.” (You do get Old Man Logan in it, though.)  This series goes from comedy to dark violence and back again.  Likely not what you’d be expecting and worth a look.
