Ahead of Crunchyroll‘s Lovestruck Loot sale, I was offered the opportunity to receive a sample item: the Blu-ray for The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague.

This anime is one of my all-time favorites. It’s undeniably wholesome and adorable. As someone who’s of working age (yes, a millennial here!), I especially appreciate a series centered around adult professionals.

For those who aren’t familiar, The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague follows Himuro, the descendant of a yuki onna (or snow woman), who starts a new office job. Whenever he gets emotional or excited, he inadvertently causes mini blizzards and creates snowmen. Himuro harbors a secret crush on his coworker Fuyutsuki, an ordinary human woman who is completely unaware of his feelings. Alongside Himuro, other supernatural descendants work in the office, such as Komori, a fox spirit’s descendant, and Katori, a childhood friend of Himuro’s and descendant of a phoenix.

Season 1 delves into Himuro’s developing feelings for Fuyutsuki. Their first day working together, when she patiently drank tea with him until his ice melted, served as the spark to his crush, and is the beginning of a very wholesome office romance story.

Himuro is a shy, cat-loving, flower-adoring man, but his excitement makes him freeze anything he touches, including plants and animals. When Fuyutsuki learns of this, she thoughtfully provides him with straw to protect the plants from frost and her cat’s whiskers for good luck. Her kindness deepens his affection, and as they spend more time together, their bond grows.

It’s a wonderfully sweet story about adulthood, friendship, and love.

The Crunchyroll package arrived via Media Mail and was packed securely. The Blu-ray case was snug in its cardboard mailer, and the cover design was delightful. The cardboard slipcover features a different illustration than the case itself, which shows a group shot. (The illustration on the sleeve is my favorite, by the way!)

Despite the solid packaging, I was surprised to find a broken piece of plastic inside the Blu-ray case. Thankfully, it didn’t affect the discs, and since there’s no booklet to hold it, it wasn’t a huge issue.

The Blu-ray also includes bonus features like promotional videos and textless versions of the opening and closing songs, which are a total treat.

If you love The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague as much as I do, now’s the perfect time to grab it at 30% off during Crunchyroll’s Lovestruck Loot sale!
