In The Dust Pirates by Kevin Cuffe and Bob Frantz (Metalshark Bro), with art by Tony Gregori, colors by Josh Jensen, and letters by Chas! Pangburn, two pirates must face insurmountable odds. We’re talking “whole other world” insurmountable odds, here! The Dust Pirates comic is now live on Kickstarter, but you can get your first look at some swashbuckling preview pages today on The Beat!
The story is a classic action adventure comic that follows a pair of pirates on a swashbuckling adventure that leads them to a desert Atlantis. The action begins when a water mage sends Blackheart Sam Bellamy and Quinitor away from 1790s Earth and into the world of Atlantis.
The eighty-page graphic novel promises to bring pulp action to everyone, and to serve as a reflection of the world as we know it (in other words, a central theme is the struggle between the proletariat and the bourgeoisie). It seems that in Atlantis, the ruling class keeps everyone else in line by limited access to the essential natural resource of water.
The project is currently live on Kickstarter, and the OGN has an estimated delivery date of January 2022 . The campaign features several exclusive covers, by artists like Kangas,Chater, and K Lynn Smith. There are also rewards that include commissions by Gregori… not to mention a glow-in-the-dark skull and crossbone enamel pin!
