Twisted Comics and InkyPen are teaming up to give fans a comic adaptation of the 2017 episode of Black Mirror season 4, while also making it possible for readers to enjoy the new Black Mirror comics on gaming platforms like Steam. There are two days left to back the Black Mirror: USS Callister Kickstarter, the official graphic novel adaptation of the groundbreaking episode, the comic book written by Neil Gibson, artist Silvano Beltramo, and all-new series covers from artist Butcher Billy.
“Readers can sign up to InkyPen, an all-you-can-read comic subscription, which launches soon on Steam, to read the preview of the dystopian tale, published by Twisted Comics, and adapted by Neil Gibson and illustrated by Slivano Beltramo. The exclusive preview marks the launch of the Black Mirror comics and begins a long-term partnership with InkyPen, which will see the graphic novels feature on the gaming platforms.”
Twisted Comics secured the rights to adapt the dystopian series as graphic novels from Banijay Rights, the global distribution arm of content powerhouse Banijay Entertainment, and plans to follow with an adaptation of another popular episode, San Junipero, in 2026.

“Last year, Neil approached the Black Mirror folk and gave them a copy of The Theory, and after reading the comic, Twisted Comics were told that we were the perfect people to make the official Black Mirror comic.
This is really cool, getting big intellectual properties into the hands of solid indie creators is a rare treat. Often times strong properties are stuck with large publishers, and while there are some amazing stories out there sometimes the art itself can get lost in the halls of larger corporate dealings.
That said, doing new things requires funding, so please give Neil and Twisted Comics your support on Kickstarter (I have!), it really makes a difference,” said Ronan Huggard, InkyPen founder/CEO, in a post on August 14.

“[The episode USS Callister] in particular was close to my heart, since it was the one that actually had my work crossed over from merely internet fan art to actual production design props in the series. I suddenly became part of the stories that first served as fuel to me, in the most Black Mirror way possible. The concepts there are so rich that you can’t help but let it expand and worldbuild inside your mind, imagining new circumstances, situations, and points of view. Such ideas will not leave you that easily. It was under that light that I decided to take on the challenge to revisit that world, and the comic book media couldn’t be more perfect for that. Excited for what’s to come.” said Butcher Billy.
Collectible hardbacks of USS Callister are available to pre-order on Kickstarter, alongside chances to be drawn alongside the crew, and collector editions with covers by Butcher Billy, who illustrated some Space Fleet comics in-show and script books.
Black Mirror, written by Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones, was broadcast on Channel 4 in the UK and is now available on Netflix globally, with its seventh season premiering in April. While the creative team of Booker and Jones left their Netflix-owned Broke & Bones production company, Booker has indicated that he wants to continue writing the series.
