On Saturday at NYCC, TNT gave fans a special sneak peek at its upcoming spin-off show, Snowpiercer, including stills and, yes, a teaser. The move pays homage to the franchise’s origins as a french graphic novel (titled Le Transperceneige by Jacques Lob) and arrived during a panel featuring cast members Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Lena Hall, Sheila Vand, Steven Ogg and executive producer and showrunner Graeme Manson.
The show begins seven years following the events that set the Snowpiercer world (and the iconic train) in motion. As cold sets in on the planet, humanity is pushed into constantly moving locomotives, segregated by class and wrapped into a sci-fi-story about social justice and the politics of survival.
For anxious fans, this sneak peek and continued updates on this show are a major relief. Over its three years of production at TNT, Snowpiercer faced several issues and delays, stemming from creative issues between producers and the network itself. The show even jumped from TNT to TBS and finally back to TNT before finally finding its footing.
Snowpiercer is produced by Tomorrow Studios and executive produced by Marty Adelstein and Becky Clements. It’s directed by James Hawes, Matthew O’Connor and Scott Derrickson.
Snowpiercer is scheduled to arrive at a station near you sometime in spring of 2020. Till then, check out this sneak peek and stills from the show – and don’t forget that teaser either.
