This week’s Small Press Spotlight features a few creators I stumbled upon in Artist Alley at this year’s NYCC ’23. Take a look below!

Writer Julio Anta & Artist Jacoby Salcedo

The frequent co-creators offered NYCC attendees a few of their books, including Frontera, It’s Only Teenage Wasteland, Si, Se Puede, and more. The writer and artist have books published with companies large and small, such as Dark Horse Comics, and their stories feature diverse narratives and detailed Latinx characters.

Writer Joe Ciano & Artist Rafael Perez Granados

Joe Ciano is known for Children of the Woods with Josh Hixson, which the writer had available at the table during NYCC. Head here to check out Tales of Happenstance and more. As for Granados, the artist’s work can be found in comics from Dark Horse and IDW. The pair also offered guests of the show their collaboration on The Abandoned Things of the Bunker.

Dream Fury Comics

The small press publisher had their top title Kisha: Demon Eater on sale (Writer: Newton Lilavois, Artist: Gian Carlo Bernal) as well as Crescent City Monsters. Both books are perfect for fans looking for fresh supernatural horror tales this Fall.
