I’m not sure why I’m so excited to see the first trailer for 2020’s No Time to DieDaniel Craig‘s last stint as James Bond. Maybe because it’s been four years since Spectre, and since the plot for the 25th (official) Bond movie has been swathed in secrets, as always.

United Artists Releasing (aka MGM) just unveiled the first trailer this morning, and this one looks to have direct connections to Spectre, particularly with the return of Christoph Waltz as Ernest Blofeld, and Léa Seydoux as Bond’s love interest, Madeleine Swann.

From the trailer, we can see that Bond has left active service but has been called back in for a favor by his CIA buddy Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright, back for the first film since Casino Royale). We also get to see Lashana Lynch as the latest “00,” as she faces off with Bond. We get to see that Blofeld is in jail, but there’s a new menace in Rami Malek‘s Safin, a Bond villain with a cool “Phantom of the Opera” mask to cover his scarred-up face. We also to get see an interaction with Ben Whishaw‘s Q, who seems to have a little more to do this time around than just giving Bond his gadgets.

It looks like new director Cary Fukunaga (True Detective) has really pulled out the stops, so this might continue the trend of one great Bond movie (like Casino Royale and Skyfall) followed by one “meh” one (Quantum of Solace), since this one looks like it could be great!

No Time To Die will hit theaters on April 8, 2020, so we’ll have to wait four months to see how all of this new info from the movie ties together. Below the trailer, you can also check out nine new images from the movie.
