Neil Gaiman’s epic novel Norse Mythology is set to receive a comic adaptation from Dark Horse Comics, to be drawn by a whole swathe of artists including Mike Mignola, P. Craig Russell, and Jerry Ordway. This isn’t the first Gaiman novel to be adapted by Dark Horse, as they recently adapted American Gods as a series of limited runs which concludes soon.
Gaiman released a statement, saying, “I fell in love with the Norse gods from reading about them in comics as a boy, so it’s only fitting that they return to the medium that started it.”
He continued, “I cannot wait to see P. Craig Russell and his collaborators tell the old stories for a new generation.”
For those of you who haven’t read the novel, which is highly recommended, Gaiman adapts and retells several Norse myths from the beginning of the world to Ragnarok (which is ironic given his adaptation is to be adapted). It’s a gripping read and will definitely make for a stunning comic.
While Mignola, Russell, and Ordway have been announced as part of the comic’s art team, Dark Horse claims that the series “will feature a mix of major interior artists to be announced later.” Which makes sense given the scope of the story and the various characters and locations Gaiman focuses on throughout the book.

Norse Mythology #1 will be available on May 27 2020, and will run for 18 issues.
