Following a cryptic call to action, Matt Kindt’s Flux House imprint at Oni Press has announced the next stage in its Mind MGMT: New & Improved campaign preceding the launch of the new series.
This time, it’s… blind bags.

In addition to a die-cut standard cover by Kindt, Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1 will also feature 15 exclusive, chase, or rare variant covers in fin-sealed, metallic silver plastic. On the outside, readers can glean information on “a new training protocol” from Kindt explaining “how to deploy the ‘blind bag in your possession to withstand psychic attack by the forces of paranoia and control.”
The inside features a cover from one of four subsets.
Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1 Artist Variants
Divided evenly across the print run once rare and chase subset covers have been accounted for, these Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1 variants feature work by Jenna Cha, Jeff Lemire, Jesse Lonergan, Fábio Moon, and David Rubín.

Kindt’s “Error” Variants
According to the press release, “some unfortunate errors accidentally made their way into the blind bagging process” while manufacturing and distributing the standard cover for Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1. These include the Korean import and 3-D variants “never intended for commercial distribution.”

Chase Foils
Limited edition covers by Lonergan and J.H. Williams III will be available without trade dress on foil stock.

Hyper-Rare “U.S.S.A.” Variants

The rarest Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1 blind bag variants are the “U.S.S.A.” subset, featuring Lee Harvey Oswald, Patty Hearst, Charles Manson, Richard Nixon, Apollo 11’s command module, and more. Per the press release, these covers reveal “America’s secret history of mind control and information warfare across the 20th century.” Each is rendered by artist/designer Scott Sugiuchi.
The PR notes that one of these covers is “a hallucination” and won’t actually be printed. The Beat cannot confirm this report.
Mind MGMT: New & Improved #1 goes on sale June 24 digitally and at your local comic shop.
