The upcoming four-issue miniseries Marvel Unleashed will not only feature the Pet Avengers, but it will also introduce a brand-new super-canine to the Marvel Multiverse! In an article posted to Marvel.com on Friday, May 19th, 2023, the design page and name “D-Dog” was unveiled.

Marvel Unleashed

Variant cover by Bernard Chang.

A creative team that includes writer Kyle Starks and artist Jesús Hervás will be behind the miniseries. Here’s the story description from Marvel:

“When Kraven the Hunter abducts Black Bolt’s teleporting dog Lockjaw at the same time a local scientist mixed up with A.I.M. goes missing, Throg the Frog of Thunder, Redwing the Falcon, Chewie the Cat Flerken, Lucky the Pizza Dog, Bats the Ghost Dog, and their scrappy new ally D-Dog will swoop in to save the day. But there’s more to this case than meets the eye—and something infernal lurks in the shadows…”

No Celestial necessary – merely a deal with Mephisto.

Previously, the return of the Pet Avengers was teased in Timeless (2022) #1. In a sequence in that issue, Kang traveled across possible upcoming Marvel Comics continuity, affording readers a glimpse of the Pet Avengers. In August, it seems the long wait for the return of Marvel’s greatest pet-based team* is over!

*No disrespect intended towards the Winter Friends from Hawkeye (2012) #17 by Matt Fraction, Chris Eliopoulos, David Aja, and Matt Hollingsworth.
