Oni Press has announced the final book in cartoonist Katie O’Neill‘s award-winning graphic novel series, The Tea Dragon Society. The third and final book in the series, entitled The Tea Dragon Tapestry, will hit shelves fall 2020. The book will explore crafting and grief.
Here’s the synopsis, per a press release:
It’s been over a year since she was entrusted with Ginseng’s care and Greta still can’t chase away the cloud of mourning that hangs over the timid Tea Dragon. As she struggles to create something spectacular enough to impress a master blacksmith in search of an apprentice, she questions the true meaning of crafting, and the true meaning of caring for someone in grief.
Meanwhile, Minette receives a surprise package from the monastery where she was once training to be a prophetess. Thrown into confusion about her path in life, the shy and reserved Minette finds that the more she opens her heart to others, the more clearly she can see what was always inside.
“It brings me great joy to be returning to the stories of Greta, Minette and many other friends readers have met through the world of Tea Dragons,” O’Neill said in a statement. “When I started writing Society, I absolutely could not have imagined the warmth and enthusiasm that would meet these characters and creatures.”
She continued, “One thing I’ve discovered while making these books is that the world of Tea Dragons is much bigger than what I alone can create; it has been incredible to see both children and adults invent their own Tea Dragon lore and fantasies, myths and rituals, and include them in spending quality time with friends and family. I cherish that beyond words, and I hope the last installment will be satisfying and enjoyable to readers new and old.”
Also in a statement, series editor Ari Yarwood said, “It’s been an absolute joy working on the Tea Dragon series with Katie O’Neill, and I’m so proud of the kind and beautiful world she’s created. I hope that readers find something they need in these books.”
The Tea Dragon Tapestry will be available in stores and online September 1, 2020. Check out the cover art below.
