Writer James Tynion IV is launching a new digital horror comics anthology, with a first issue that features work from a number of creators Ram V, Marguerite Bennett, Nick Robles, DaNi, Lonnie Nadler, Jenna Cha, and more.

The anthology is called Razorblade: The Horror Magazine, and it is available immediately via a pay-what-you-want model on ReadRazorblades.com. The book is nearly 80 pages, and it mixes comics, prose, and illustrations, as well as an interview between Tynion and Scott Snyder. The cover (pictured here) features art by Trevor Henderson and design by Dylan Todd. Tynion is working on the project with writer/editor Steve Foxe.

The second issue of this project is slated to drop just before Halloween.

You can find the full press release about the new anthology magazine below, along with a full list of the creators involved in the first issue…enjoy!

Bestselling writer James Tynion IV (BatmanSomething Is Killing the Children, Department of Truth) and writer/editor Steve Foxe have assembled a murderer’s row of talent to launch RAZORBLADES: THE HORROR MAGAZINE, an all-new quarterly horror anthology sold exclusively through Tynion’s own Tiny Onion Studios.

Available immediately, RAZORBLADES #1 is a nearly 80-page, pay-what-you-want digital collection of comics, prose, and illustrations, featuring creators like Ram V (These Savage Shores), Marguerite Bennett (Animosity), Nick Robles (The Dreaming: Waking Hours), DaNi (Coffin Bound), Lonnie Nadler & Jenna Cha (Black Stars Above), as well as an extensive interview between Tynion IV and Scott Snyder (American VampireUndiscovered Country).

“Our goal was to focus on the rising class in the comic book industry,” Tynion writes in the issue’s introduction. “Young creatives, starting to make their name in horror, or in comics in general. We’ve asked them to bring us their most frightening work, grounded in the modern world, not trying to evoke something from decades past.”

Born out of James Tynion IV and Foxe discussing their mutual love of horror anthologies like Steve Bissette’s Taboo, which serialized the initial chapters of Alan Moore and Eddie Campbell’s From HellRAZORBLADES came together quickly while creators navigated COVID-related publishing slowdowns over the summer.

To facilitate that outreach, all contributors to RAZORBLADES maintain full creative ownership of their intellectual property, allowing them to potentially build on and spin off of ideas introduced here. The anthology will also feature several serialized stories, starting with Killboy from Tynion IV and Ricardo Lopez Ortiz (Hit-Girl), and A Dream of Time by Ram V and rising talent John J. Pearson.

“With no slight at all to crowd-funded projects, we didn’t want to work on that timeline,” Foxe added. “We were impatient about getting Razorblades into readers’ hands, especially after such a tumultuous summer for the industry. A surprise launch—a jump scare—felt right.”

Razorblades #1, which features a cover by horror illustrator Trevor Henderson, is available now through ReadRazorblades.com, where readers can name their own price. A special-edition print run, limited to only 500 copies, is also available for preorder. Future issues are planned every quarter, with issue #2 dropping just ahead of Halloween.
