The fab four return in Titan’s summer Doctor Who crossover comic event, and they’re bringing Cybermen to the party. In addition to the July 6 launch of John Barrowman’s Torchwood comic series event, Titan announced today that a five issue, bi-weekly series featuring Doctors Nine through Twelve will kick off that same day. Both series debut just before the third annual Doctor Who Comics Day on July 9.
Ninth Doctor comic scribe Cavan Scott would be joined by Eighth Doctor writer George Mann on the title, which sees the return of classic foes the Cybermen: celebrating their 50th anniversary of assimilating humans into terrifying robot bodies. Art by Alessandro Vitti, of Captain America & Hawkeye fame, rounds out the creative team.
This special crossover event comic entitled ‘Supremacy of the Cybermen’ stars the Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston), Tenth Doctor (David Tennant), Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith), and Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi), and their comic companions – Gabby, Cindy, Alice, Rose (Billie Piper) and Captain Jack (John Barrowman)!
Exiled from Gallifrey at the very end of time, Rassilon, fallen leader of the Time Lords, has been captured by the last of the Cybermen. Now, the Cybermen have access to time travel. With it, every defeat becomes a victory. Every foe is now dead — or Cyberized.
Doctor Who Comics Day on July 9 doesn’t just boast the launch of two new Doctor Who titles: it’s also more interactive than in previous years, as fans are now able to sign up for an “event kit” that allows them to host their own Who-reading parties. Not to mention the events — likely featuring signings and prize giveaways — scheduled around the world at bookstores, libraries and, of course, comic shops.
