Marvel Studios has dropped the trailer for Ironheart, the Disney+ spin-off for Riri Williams (Dominique Thorne), picking up after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

Opening with an extended scene of our heroine, now back in her hometown of Chicago, succeeding in her “audition” for her would-be boss Parker Robbins/The Hood (Anthony Ramos), the trailer reveals Riri is now struggling to keep up the mantle she seemingly perfected in Wakanda, and Robbins is offering to be her new benefactor. But as her family and friends are shown pointing out, Riri has probably made a huge mistake in negotiating with this man, whose ominous supernatural skills are on full display here. Fortunately, it appears Riri manages to find a new ally in Alden Ehrenreich‘s unnamed tech expert — even if she finds him rather shady too.

In a breakdown at Marvel.com, executive producer Ryan Coogler discussed what makes Riri a unique and relatable character, why Chicago is still an underused setting in media, and the decision to pit her against a magic user like the Hood. “Riri is definitely in conversation with a street-level show like Daredevil,” he says. “You’ve got characters trying — both heroes and villains — to make do with what they have. Then you combine that with cosmic Marvel, characters who would be at home in Doctor Strange or WandaVision. That [mix] of street-level Marvel and magical Marvel is a pretty cr*zy combination.”

Ironheart, also starring Lyric Ross, Regan Aliyah, Manny Montana, Matthew Elam, and Anji White, as well as Jim Rash (reprising the role of the MIT liason from Captain America: Civil War), will premiere with three (of six) episodes on Tuesday, June 24, at 9pm ET/6pm PT. Originally set to debut in 2023, it will finally arrive two-and-a-half years after Riri’s introduction in Wakanda Forever. Coogler himself says in his breakdown, “We’ve been waiting so long to bring this to the world, and it’s coming at the perfect time. I’m so proud of everybody in this show and excited for folks to get to see it.”

In the meantime, check out the key art, as well as a featurette with Coogler and more discussing the character of Riri (who was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Mike Deodato Jr.), after the jump. A second Coogler Marvel Disney+ production, Eyes of Wakanda, will follow on August 6, 2025.
