Titan Comics has announced a pair of new graphic novels based on two very different movies. Highlander: The Original Screenplay, due out November 17, 2026, will adapt the first draft of the 1986 film’s script by Gregory Widen, with Szymon Kudranski (No Man’s Land) listed on art. The original film, which starred Christopher Lambert, Sean Connery, and Clancy Brown, told the story of Connor MacLeod, an immortal Scottish Highlander, and his battles with rival immortals across the centuries for the ultimate “Prize.”

Editor Jonathan Wilkins states, “I have been a fan of Highlander since what feels like the dawn of time, so it’s a genuine thrill to bring this story back as originally envisaged by the man who created it all, Gregory Widen. For the first time, readers will be able to experience this epic adventure set across the centuries. It’s been a genuine thrill to work with Gregory to discover the various avenues his story explored before filming began. So get ready to visit the blood-stained highlands of the mid-1500s and the seamy streets of New York of the early 1980s for a spectacular take on an immortal tale!”

Widen’s script, which he wrote as a UCLA student, was reportedly darker and more violent than the final film, and differed significantly when it came to various characters’ backstories, as well as the denouement. The book will mark the 40th anniversary of the Highlander franchise, and should coincide with the upcoming reboot, starring Henry Cavill, Russell Crowe, and Dave Bautista (which doesn’t have a release date at the time of writing.) It’ll make Titan the third Highlander comics publisher, following IDW, who released a series in 2017, and Dynamite, which ran three from 2006 to 2009.

In the meantime, Titan will release My Father’s Dragon, an adaptation of the animated Netflix film produced by Ireland’s Cartoon Saloon, that was itself based on the book by Ruth Stiles Gannett. Samuel Sattin, who’s previously adapted other Cartoon Saloon movies like Wolfwalkers, Song of the Sea, and The Secret of Kells into graphic novels, will weave his magic once again for this book, releasing September 15. Nora Twomey, the film’s director, comments, “Seeing the story take on a new life with an adaptation by the brilliant Samuel Sattin […] is truly amazing, and to have the graphic novel adapted by the legendary Titan Comics is very exciting for everyone who worked on the film.”

Both books are available to preorder now from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Forbidden Planet. In the meantime, you can check out more artwork from Highlander: The Original Screenplay below.
