We’re only two two months away until the release of Fantastic Four: First Steps. It goes without saying that previous attempts to adapt Marvel’s First Family haven’t fared well, so the bar is fairly low. In any event, the marketing campaign for the film is already in full swing. Case in point, the first wave of Funko Fantastic Four: First Steps figures were revealed today.
As teased in the latest trailer the birth of Franklin Richards, the child of Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) and the Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby) will be a major plot point. The Invisible Woman Funko figure will include a Baby Franklin Richards mini figure as well who will sport his own adorable team onesie. Looks like Jack Jack from The Incredible has some competition.
The rest of the first wave of these Funko Fantastic Four: First Steps figures includes Johnny Storm/Human Torch(Joseph Quinn) Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) plus Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his herald, Shalla-Bal The Silver Surfer (Julia Garner). Somewhat surprised that H.E.R.B.I.E. wasn’t included in this first wave, but knowing Funko, they’ll likely produce more figures of other characters once the film is released.
It was only a few weeks ago that Funko announced that a suggested $14.99 would go into effect this July due to the current tariffs. With the temporary pause on Chinese tariffs however, it looks like Funkio fanatics may not have to worry about limiting themselves to just “two dolls” this holiday season.
