This week, Far Sector #1 debuted in comic stores to rave reviews. Written by multiple-Hugo award winner N.K. Jemisin and illustrated by Jamal Campbell with lettering by Deron Bennett, this new DC Comics series follows Green Lantern Sojourner “Jo” Mullein. As our story begins, Jo has been protecting the metropolitan sprawl known as City Enduring for six months. The city is inhabited by over 20 billion people and peace has been maintained for centuries because its citizens have been stripped of their ability to feel. Crimes of passion, especially murder, basically no longer exist. But something is changing…and everything is about to come crashing down.

Earlier this week, The Beat writer Zack Quaintance reviewed Far Sector #1. In his piece, he called the debut issue of this twelve-issue maxi-series “so well-done that I can’t see anyone who picks it up in good faith coming away disappointed. This is, simply put, a must-read comic.” Quaintance compared Far Sector to Tom King‘s and Mitch Gerads‘ recent hit comic Mister Miracle, even, putting the title in excellent company on your reading list.
