In addition to solicit information, IDW has also provided The Beat with artist Jacob Edgar’s design for Kong. According to Edgar, he drew inspiration from Bill Sienkewicz‘s depiction of Marvel villain Kingpin.
Editor Nicolas Niño hyped up the miniseries and issue saying:
“The Rocketeer vs. Kong! Two of the greatest characters in American fiction are meeting and you and I, dear reader, are alive to see it happen! John, Jacob, and K.J. are bringing us one of the most delightful comics of the year with The Island. In a story full of outlandish cameos and fun reveals, we’re so excited for everyone to finally learn about the biggest one yet!
It’s been the honor of a lifetime getting to be a part of this comic that originated from the mind of Rocketeer creator, Dave Stevens. I just hope we printed enough to go around.”
The debut issue of The Rocketeer: The Island #1 is on sale Feb 25. Pre-orders are still open for issues #2 and #3 so contact your local comic shop ASAP!
