This December, you’re invited to a remote Romanian castle for a first-of-its-kind comics whodunnit with infinite surprises and even more stitches, as the infamous, undead spawn of Dr. Frankenstein – now reborn as the world’s most brilliant criminal investigator – is tasked with solving a monstrous murder that could lead to the end of humanity itself . . .
Decades after his creation, the creature once known as Frankenstein’s Monster has reinvented himself as Europe’s most formidable mind. After years underground, his scars have faded and his genius-level intellect has tamed his hulking nature . . . revealing an extraordinary talent for solving the world’s most inexplicable mysteries. Today, he is Prometheus Graft: gentleman detective, expert investigator . . . and something still not quite entirely human.

Now, on the cusp of a new century set to be ruled by science over superstition, Graft believes he his finally conquered his monstrous past . . . until he is summoned to the remote Romanian castle of Death’s End, where an immortal lord has assembled Europe’s most feared supernatural beings to broker a long-lasting peace. But their fragile treaty will soon be shattered when the corpse of one of the prominent guests is found murdered in the castle’s hedge maze . . . turning witch against werewolf and vampire against ghoul as suspicion and bloodshed spiral.

With only his instincts and a bloodstained trail of clues to guide him, can Prometheus Graft solve the slayings at Death’s End before a new day breaks . . . and all hell follows with it?

“When Caitlin Yarsky and I set out to create a supernatural whodunnit with a cast of mythical monsters as the suspects, I quickly landed on using Frankenstein’s Creature, AKA Prometheus Graft, as the central detective,” said Northy. “Instead of modifying any part of Mary Shelley’s iconic story, we decided to operate as if the events of the original novel are all canon to our version. We’re simply following the further adventures of  ‘The Monster’ who long ago remade himself as an unconventional sleuth.”

“As someone who loves drawing fantasy and horror, the world of PROMETHEUS GRAFT is a creative playground,” said Yarsky.” Within this classic whodunnit storytelling structure, George has written rich, complex characters that feel uniquely his. Prometheus Graft is a more human, relatable take on Frankenstein’s creature, and I think readers will be excited to follow him as he learns more about his own nature and uncovers mysteries all over the world (and beyond).”

“There’s a whole history of other mysteries Graft has solved over the years,” added Northy. “In Issue 1, we even reference ‘that strange business with Dr. Jekyll and Mister Hyde’ which we could revisit in future installments. I also wanted to use the established canon of Vampyrs, Witches and Werewolves as a shorthand to lay out the ground rules for what a murder mystery looks like in this world. Their strengths and weaknesses are so well-known that in our story, the murder weapons can’t be revolvers or lead pipes…they’re silver daggers, fire, wooden stakes and sunlight.”

The issue features covers by Yarsky alongside Eisner Award winner Eric Powell (The Goon), Eisner Award winner Gabriel Rodriguez (Locke & Key), and Patricia Martín (EC’s Blood Type).
