On Tuesday, March 12th, 2024, International School of Brooklyn will present “Graphic Lives: A Conversation about Drawing Identities.” The panel will take place from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm at BRIC in Brooklyn, New York. Read on for more details about this exciting in-person event!

Graphic Lives: A Conversation about Drawing Identities

“Graphic Lives” will feature panelists Barbara Brandon-CroftLauren RednissAlessandra Olanow and Emily Flake, and will be moderated by Dan Nadel. According to the official site, the panel “will delve into the intricate paths of the artists’ inspirations, creative and research processes, and perspectives on the changing landscape of comics and graphic novels.”

The site continues, “Additionally, the discussion will explore the invaluable role of graphic novels in children’s development, unraveling the profound significance of visual storytelling in shaping young minds and fostering a love for reading.”

Along with the panel, “A book signing and wine and cheese reception will follow the discussion. Books will be available for purchase from independent bookstore Lofty Pigeon Books. This event is 14+ and open to the public. It is hosted by the ISB Library Committee and Advancement Office and presented with BRIC. All proceeds from this event will support ISB’s Fund for Excellence.”

General admission for the event is $35 in advance and $45 at the door. A student rate of $20 is available (with qualifying ID).

The signed limited edition 13X19 prints on archival paper.

In addition, there are a limited number of premium tickets. These include the Bibliophile Ticket for $100, which includes “a print from the panelist of your choice and a $45 tax-deductible donation to the Fund for Excellence.” And for $250, the Collector Ticket includes “a set of four prints from the panelists and a $135 tax-deductible donation to the Fund for Excellence.”
