Dynamite revealed a slew of covers for their upcoming Disney’s Darkwing Duck series. Fan favorite duck Drake Mallard will make his return to comics in January 2023.
The series was first teased alongside Dynamite’s other initial Disney series Gargoyles at San Diego Comic-Con and fans have been eagerly awaiting more on the project. While details on the creative team and story are soon to come, Dynamite did share the talented artists providing covers.
David Nakayama is leading the charge with the character featured in a heroic pose perched atop a gargoyle, while Mirka Andolfo’s entry portrays our hero cloaked and ready to go. Next up is Lesley “Leirix” Li with Darkwing Duck standing heroically, complete with billowing cape and grappling hook in action.
There is also a trio of covers in the spirit of the beloved television show from Trish Forstner, known for Stray Dogs and franchises like My Little Pony and Transformers, Jacob Edgar (Death to the Army of Darkness, The Ones with Brian Michael Bendis), and Andolfo’s studio mate Carlo Lauro.
Darkwing Duck #1 will be available for preorder in November and is slated for release in January 2023. It will also be available for individual customer purchase through digital platforms courtesy of Comixology, Kindle, iBooks, Google Play, Dynamite Digital, ComicsPlus, and more.
