Back in 2023, DC relaunched the Wonder Woman ongoing title with the creative team of writer Tom King and artist Daniel Sampere. The last two years has seen some major new developments for the Amazon warrior most notably the introduction of Lizze Prince a.k.a. Trinity the daughter of Wonder Woman. The creative team has also introduced some major new additions to Wonder Woman’s rogues gallery such as the Matriarch. It’s all been building to what the publisher promises to be the duo’s most ambitious story yet with “Wonder War” beginning with Wonder Woman #31 this March.
Here’s how the publisher describes the upcoming storyline:
Set twenty years in the future, “Wonder War” is a fight against the darkest timeline imaginable: the Justice League is dead, the villains of the DC Universe (even Lex Luthor!) have bent the knee, and the Matriarch, first introduced in the sold‑out Wonder Woman #25, has risen to power as the Queen of America. Against this backdrop, Diana and her grown-up daughter Trinity must unite to resist a foe whose insurmountable strength threatens to conquer the entire world.
The story is both a family saga and a war epic, pitting Wonder Woman’s ideals of compassion and justice against authoritarian conquest. With Trinity’s role at the forefront, “Wonder War” is not only Diana’s battle, but a generational fight for the very soul of the DC Universe.
