Like the rest of the world, the global anime brand Crunchyroll is betting on manga and entering the digital comics space. Today, Crunchyroll announced that it is launching a new premium add-on on October 9, 2025, “to serve the legions of fans who live and breathe their love of manga.” The app will launch across iOS and Android in the U.S. and Canada, with the web version to follow on October 15, 2025.
Backed by Link-U Group, a leading digital manga service developer from Japan, Crunchyroll Manga will launch as a standalone app, separate from the main Crunchyroll streaming platform, the world’s largest dedicated library of Japanese anime series and films. Unlike some of the other digital manga platforms, Crunchyroll Manga will be an ad-free experience.
The app will combine some of the biggest titles from across publishers, making manga even more accessible than ever before. At launch, the app will feature a number of titles from leading publishers, such as AlphaPolis, COMPASS, Square Enix, VIZ Media, and Yen Press. And there will be content from additional partners, like Shueisha, J-Novel Club, ThirdlineNEXT, highstone, appearing on the app soon.
That means that anime fans will be able to find some of the manga upon which their favorite series are based, including One Piece, written and illustrated by Eiichiro Oda, Jujutsu Kaisen, written and illustrated by Gege Akutami, Daemons of the Shadow Realm, written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa, The Apothecary Diaries, written by Natsu Hyūga and illustrated by Touko Shino, Delicious in Dungeon, written and illustrated by Ryoko Kui, The Summer Hikaru Died, written and illustrated by Mokumokuren, and My Dress-Up Darling, written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda. In addition to fan-favorites, the app will also include some titles never published digitally before.
“Anime and manga have always been two sides of the same coin, and Crunchyroll is uniquely positioned to bring them together for fans everywhere,” said Asa Suehira, Chief Content Officer at Crunchyroll. “With this launch, we’re not just creating another reading app, we’re expanding the ultimate anime lifestyle experience, uniting stories on the screen with those on the page.”
