Be it in celluloid or comic book form, Creepshow has always been known for its highly stylized EC Horror-inspired aesthetics. Stephen King and George Romero’s 1982 classic took to the horror comics of old to craft an anthology experience that indulged in the macabre to give its nasty little morality tales a more satirical kick. It’s as close as we’ve gotten to a living, breathing comic book playing out on the big screen.
Despite the clear EC inspiration, Creepshow managed to establish its own look and feel. It’s an experience that transfers over to the comic adaptation of the King/Romero movie, the Shudder anthology series that premiered in 2019 (produced by special effects master Greg Nicotero), and the comic book extension of the TV show which started its publication run back in 2022 under Image Comics. Now, Monstrous Press is announcing that editor and writer James Aquilone is putting together the first ever prose short story collection based on the beloved license.
The new book, titled Creepshow: 13 Tales of Terror, will feature original entries from industry veterans hailing from both the prose and comic book worlds. It’s slated for release on May 19, 2026.
Russ Braun illustrated the cover for the book and EV Cantada created full-page art pieces to accompany each story.
