Earlier this year, Atomic Crush Events opened the doors of a new comic book centric convention to an underserved part of southern California with the first Comic Con Revolution. Today, the group is announcing an expansion with Comic Con Revolution – West Palm Beach taking place in February 2018.
Below are some of the details from today’s press release:
The inaugural 1-day event at the Palm Beach County Convention Center in West Palm Beach, Florida will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018. CCR WPB will feature a guest list of top industry talent and a full day of programming including our Cosplay Revolution Costume Contest, exhibitors, and vendors.
Our initial guest list includes Chris Claremont, Sandy King Carpenter, Jeff Dekal, Joe Eisma, Travis Hanson, Hope Larson, Shawn Martinbrough, Ron Marz, Richard Starkings and hosting our Cosplay Revolution Costume Contest is Ming Chen (AMC’s Comic Book Men). Expect several additional announcements to be made as guests continue to confirm their appearances.
ACE’s first Comic Con Revolution show drew about 6,000 attendees on a single day when initial projections were only estimated at 2,500. The group’s co-founder, Michael Scigliano had this to say, “The concept was received incredibly well. Fans are excited about comic cons that feature great comic book and creative arts talent. Our inaugural show in West Palm Beach will be built around that same
core concept.” Personally, I witnessed the show first hand and can tell you the Inland Empire community enjoyed being more than the gateway to Palm Springs for a day.
So far, West Palm Beach looks promising. Anytime you can have Chris Claremont on your marquee, it’s a good start.
Tickets are on sale now for the CCR West Palm Beach and more info can be found on the show’s website. CCR will still have a show in Ontario California as well that’s expanded to a full 2-day affair May 19-20, 2018.
