The Human Target #7 is slated for publication on Sept. 27, marking the resumption of the hit series from Tom King and Greg Smallwood, and now DC Comics has shared the Fire-y (heh) cover for the book.

We’ll get to the details in a moment, but first, the cover, which is of course by Smallwood:

Human Target #7

Here’s the plot synopsis for the seventh issue from DC:

After discovering clues, the death of a Green Lantern and a torrid romance with Tora Olafsdottir, a.k.a. Ice, DC’s top bodyguard may meet his match when Beatriz da Costa, otherwise known as Fire, steps into his life. Only time will tell what secrets this flaming femme fatale might hold, and just how badly The Human Target might get burned.

The issue will, of course, also be available with variant covers. There will be a main variant by Stanley “Artgerm” Lau, as well as a 1:25 variant by Francesco Mattina.

The Human Target — a 12-issue maxi-series — has been on hiatus since The Human Target #6 came out back in March. The book is getting ready to come back in a big way, though. In August, King is penning an anthology of short prequel comics — Tales of the Human Target — drawn by a group of top-tier artists, including Smallwood, as well as Mikel JanínRafael Albuquerque, and Kevin Maguire (Maguire being especially fitting here because Human Target is a noir riff on the iconic Justice League International series that he originally drew).

In addition to The Human Target #7 arriving at the end of September, The Human Target Vol. 1 collection is slated to arrive Sept. 13, delivering The Human Target #1 – #6. You can also check out the cover for that — which is the same as the series first issue because don’t fix what isn’t broken — below:
