Valiant Entertainment announced today via Comics Alliance that the publisher’s premiere superhero team Unity is coming to an end after two years of consecutive publication. BUt it’s going out with a bang and a laugh as the final issue, Unity #25 is set to be a humor comic written by both previous writers of the comic; James Asmus and Matt Kindt. The issue is set to debut in December with a large sized 48-page finale priced at $4.99. Along for the ride is a group of who’s who in the comics world with stories from people like Donny Cates, Justin Jordan, Kano, Ty Templeton and more. Writer Matt Kindt is even lending his illustration work to the comic.
“When the opportunity came to celebrate UNITY’s 25th and final issue with an oversized anthology of wall-to-wall humor, I was in heaven,” said Unity editor Alejandro Arbona told the website. We put the call out to some of the funniest creators we know…including a few who were totally new to Valiant! That’s how determined we were to pack this thing chockablock with great comedy, and send off the title with a love letter that would be as hilarious as it was moving. I, for one, can’t wait until you see what Michael Kupperman has up his multi-talented sleeve. And if you’ve ever listened to The Best Show or seen the comedy of Scharpling and Wurster, you know Tom Scharpling is working up something unbelievable for his Valiant debut. We’ve got writers from The Daily Show, The Nightly Show, and Late Night with Stephen Colbert gracing these pages, along with a murderer’s row of comics-comedy superstars.”
Valiant is ending the comic by including each core member of the team with characters like Livewire, Ninjak, X-O Manowar, GIN-GR, and Eternal Warrior. Guest stars from the expanded Valiant Universe. also show up.
