Lalo Alcaraz was named the winner of the 2025 Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for Editorial Cartoons as part of The 2025 RFK Human Rights Book and Journalism Awards on May 22,2025. The ceremony was held virtually featuring remarks by Kerry Kennedy, Soledad O’Brien, and Margaret “Peggy” Engel and can be watched here.(around the 20 min mark).

“Our cartoon winner is the child of Mexican immigrants, so he brings sharp insight into the inequalities that immigrants, women, and minorities face. Magnifying issues that hit close to home.” said Engel as presenter of the award.

“I am honored to represent my syndicate Andrew’s McMeel Syndication, and also CALÓ News in this portfolio of editorial cartoons,” Alcaraz said.
