Amazon has released a new trailer for the fifth and final season of The Boys, premiering on Prime Video on Wednesday, April 8.

In the fifth and final season, it’s Homelander’s world, completely subject to his erratic, egomaniacal whims. Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie are imprisoned in a “Freedom Camp.” Annie struggles to mount a resistance against the overwhelming Supe force. Kimiko is nowhere to be found. But when Butcher reappears, ready and willing to use a virus that will wipe all Supes off the map, he sets in motion a chain of events that will forever change the world and everyone in it. It’s the climax, people. Big stuff’s gonna happen.

Among the various reveals in the trailer are confirmation Gen V‘s Jaz Sinclair and London Thor will reprise their roles as Marie Moreau and Jordan Li, as they join the fight against Homelander. We also get a brief first glimpse of series newcomer Daveed Diggs, who appears to be playing the deeply religious Supe (and alleged pedophile) Oh-Father. Other actors joining the show for the final season, like Mason Dye (who’ll play the Supe Bombsight), and Jared Padalecki‘s undisclosed character, remain under wraps.

The final season, which will consist of eight episodes, will have a two-part premiere, and continue once a week before the series finale on May 20. However, it won’t mark the end of the franchise, based on the original comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, with a prequel series, Vought Rising currently in production, and The Boys: Mexico also in the works. Furthermore, a VR game, Trigger Warning, will be released at some point.

A third season of the Godolkin University-set spin-off Gen V remains currently unconfirmed, although given the presence of Marie and Jordan (who did not originate from the comic), confirming the show’s return would be quite the spoiler on the producers’ part.
