BookCon 2026 was quite, um, heated, with endless complaints about crowding, savage ARC drops and not getting into much desired panels. Sound familiar? Welcome to Fandom! All that said it was a huge success – selling out tickets in mere moments with 25,000 attendees. And it will be back in ’27 but even bigger: BookCon will move from a two-day event to a full three days, April 9-11.
“The passion of our fans and the storytelling community found at BookCon 2026 was beyond our wildest dreams and we can’t wait to bring the event back even bigger next year,” said Jenny Martin, Event Director, ReedPop. “Our team has been hard at work reviewing the feedback we received from attendees and partners after this year’s show and we are excited about the changes and improvements we are bringing to the 2027 event, starting with the expansion to three days of programming, signings, and shopping. Stay tuned for more updates in the months to come!”
An annual celebration of storytelling, BookCon brings together fans’ favorite publishers, authors, brands, and retailers for an immersive show floor experience, designed with fans in mind. From intimate author chats and captivating panels to lively book swaps and crafting zones, BookCon is a celebration where every page turn will lead to another great adventure.
The pr did not mention WHERE BookCon will take place – the ’26 event absolutely jam packed the North Hall, and even expanding to halls A and B didn’t help much. Hopefully the event will have a bigger floor space for all those captivating authors and panels.
All complaints aside, obviously BookCon gave fans a chance to see, hear and meet some of their favorite authors, and that is something that will always draw a devoted crowd. It’s a hit!
We’ll also be curious to see if BookCon moves away from its focus on romance – another complaint from last year. While it would be nice to see other genres repped, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
Applications are now open for panels and Indie Alley, although it’s not too easy to find on the website. Tickets will go on sale later this year – for now your best bet is to sign up for the newsletter and keep checking those socials: BookCon.com and on Instagram and Facebook.
