Google announced that they have made LIFE magazine’s photos archives available online. Not only does this mean that regular folks can look at the incredible images of Alfred Eisenstadt and Margaret Bourke-White, and artists can find fabulous references, but you can also find images of Charles Addams working with a model for The Addams Family…

…and the nearly blind James Thurber working on a drawing…

…and discover that even though we are living in the age of the graphic novel, there have already been cartoonists on the cover of Time magazine, including Bill Mauldin.

Wonder when that will happen again?

  1. I think Garry Trudeau was the last Time cover that was based on a profile of that cartoonist, although both Trudeau and Schulz did issues covers.

  2. The idea of a starlet named Buff Cobb who read comics is a little too rich for my blood.

Can someone please start a webcomic about her?
