Alien: Romulus is coming. The next entry in the storied Alien franchise arrives exclusively in theaters on August 16. The teaser trailer for the new film premiered yesterday.

The teaser trailer looks incredibly promising. It opens with a single take shot going through a space ship, with disembodied dialogue suggesting someone is about to have a chestburster come out of them. It ends on a series of bloody stasis chambers. The production design shown in the trailer harkens back to the iconic look of Ron Cobb from the first film. There’s face huggers galore, darkly lit corridors, and of course, creatures waiting in the shadows.

The film is directed by Fede Alvarez, who genre fans will know from his Evil Dead remake and Don’t Breath, and produced by Ridley Scott. It’s set to star Cailee Spaeny (Priscilla), Isabela Merced (Superman), and David Jonsson (Murder is Easy). Originally planned to come out on Hulu, the teaser proudly announces the movie will be released exclusively in theaters. The plot synopsis is pretty light on details but sounds about right for an Alien film.

“a group of young people on a distant world, who find themselves in a confrontation with the most terrifying life form in the universe”

  1. I will give it a shot, but the franchise regressed when Prometheus became polarizing (It was a GENIUS film, but people don’t want to think, so they are ramping up the horror)
