Courtesy of an Instagram post, DC Comics unveiled main cover for Absolute Batman #20 by series artist Nick Dragotta. The publisher is keeping things close to the vest and will reveal the full, unredacted cover in early April following the publication of Absolute Batman #19. Nevertheless, the cover will likely still excite fans and readers with the tease of the long-awaited appearance of Absolute Robin.
Absolute Batman writer Scott Snyder has been hinting for quite some time that the Absolute Robin would be appearing in the book. The Absolute Universe version of Barbara Gordon has already debuted as a police officer and daughter of Mayor Jim Gordon. The assumption is that the Absolute version of Dick Grayson will be an adult instead of donning the Robin mantle as a kid like the mainstream comics counterpart. Naturally, Snyder is playing coy. In any event, we can expect Snyder and Dragotta to take a big swing with the Absolute Robin.
Likewise, the issues seems to indicate a major death is set to occur. Is yet another Alfred set to meet his demise? Let the fan speculation begin!
The critical and commercial success of DC’s Absolute line can’t be overstated. In fact, the publisher recently announced major reprint program for many issues of various Absolute books. With this latest tease, it seems safe to assume the sales won’t be slowing down anytime soon.
