The 2025 Game Awards were held in Los Angeles last night, and as usual there were plenty of world premieres and reveals for upcoming releases (many of which don’t have confirmed release windows.) Two new Tomb Raider games were announced by Crystal Dynamics, including Legacy of Atlantis, a reimagining of the original game’s story, due out just in time for the franchise’s 30th anniversary next year.
The second, entirely new game is Tomb Raider: Catalyst, which’ll follow Lara Croft on a new adventure in North India, where she’ll battle other treasure hunters “in the wake of a mythical cataclysm that has unleashed ancient secrets, and awakened the mysterious forces that guard them.” It’ll be released on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Steam in 2027. Both games will star Alix Wilton Regan (Dragon Age, Cyberpunk 2077), who takes over as Lara from the 2013-18 trilogy’s Camilla Luddington.
Lucasfilm also announced two new Star Wars games. The first was Fate of the Old Republic, a single-player action RPG from Arcanaut Studios, the new developer co-founded by Casey Hudson (who directed the original Knights of the Old Republic game, and the Mass Effect trilogy.)
The second Star Wars reveal was Galactic Racer, the debut title of developer Fuse Games, which’ll put players in the role of Shade, a pilot who dreams of becoming one of the galaxy’s best racers. Sebulba, Anakin Skywalker’s nemesis from The Phantom Menace, will make a comeback in the game, which’ll feature multiple locations (including Rey’s homeworld Jakku), and be available to play solo or with other gamers.
Lenny Kravitz was revealed to be playing the villainous Bawma in 007 First Light, the origin story from IO Interactive coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC on March 27, 2026. A powerful black market dealer, Bawma “rose from nothing, broke free, and built his own Kingdom of Aleph.” It marks Kravitz’s first role in a video game.
Resident Evil Requiem got a new trailer, revealing Resident Evil 2, 4, and 6‘s Leon Kennedy will return as a playable character in the game (which marks the ninth main entry in the series.) Requiem, which also follows new protagonist Grace Ashcroft, will be released on Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PC, and Xbox Series X/S on February 27.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight‘s release date was revealed in a new trailer: May 29, 2026. It is now available to pre-order on Switch 2, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S.
Invincible VS‘s release date was also announced in a trailer introduced by co-creator Robert Kirkman, and Rex Splode (voiced again by Jason Mantzoukas). The fighting game will arrive on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on April 30, and introduce Ella Mental (Tierra Whack), an original character created by Kirkman and Cory Walker.
An animated trailer confirmed Deadpool will come to Marvel Rivals in season six, alongside (presumably) Elsa Bloodstone. The new season will launch on January 16.
This is just a fraction of what was revealed during the pre-show and ceremony, with further announcements including Control Resonant, Total War: Warhammer 40,000, Mega Man: Dual Override, and a new Divinity game (which got an especially gruesome reveal). The cast of the upcoming Street Fighter film also came on stage to debut the first footage from the reboot, releasing October 16, 2026:
As for the winners themselves, fantasy RPG Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 dominated with nine awards, the most in the show’s history, including Game of the Year, Best Performance (for Jennifer English), Best Score and Music, and Best Independent Game. It was the only game to win more than one prize at this year’s event.
Other winners included South of Midnight (in the Games for Impact category), Hades II (Best Action Game), Hollow Knight: Silksong (Best Action/Adventure Game), Donkey Kong Bananza (Best Family Game), The Last of Us season two (Best Adaptation), and Wuthering Waves (Players’ Voice). The Game Changer award was presented to Girls Make Games, which runs summer camps for girls interested in games development, while MoistCr1TiKaL won Content Creator of the Year.
ARC Raiders won Best Multiplayer Game, which is especially noticeable given the game has been criticized for using text-to-speech to derive new dialogue from audio of the game’s cast. Developer Embark Studios, which is based in Sweden, has defended itself, saying it got permission from the actors, and that it has not used any generative AI in the game.
For more from this year’s awards, we recommend nearly every other video game website, as well as the official YouTube channel. Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra and Wolverine were conspicuously absent, although both games are set to release next year; similarly, major projects releasing in the farther future, like EA’s Iron Man game, or Mass Effect 5, remained radio silent.
