After 16 movies, a pair of aces.
I spent my “executive time” last night watching The Avengers (2012) on the cable. I haven’t seen it since a midnight screening opening night, but I remembered a few things from it; most of it I’d forgotten, though, and I did nod off in act 2…but I do that almost every night. I was entertained […]
Thor: Ragnarok doesn’t really break the mold; instead, it’s all about the little things. It feels like Waititi was working with a bland outline for the film and character arcs, but filled in the outline with wild visuals, sharp dialogue, and some of the best casting I’ve ever seen.
§ Nice Art: A page from Suehiro Marou’s The Laughing Vampire, reviewed here by Sarah Horrocks. Marou is a Japanese manga artist known for his extremely disturbing books, like Panorama Island and Mr. Arashi’s Amazing Freak Show, which depict erotic horror in a very precise style. Why Marou? Keep reading. § Saladin Ahmed, writer of […]
§ Nice Art: Adam Hughes draws Hellboy for HELLBOY: KRAMPUSNACHT, a one shot that teams not only Mike Mignola and Adam Hughes but CHRISTMAS AND HALLOWEEN. § At a junket for Thor: Ragnarok someone asked Karl Urban what he thinks of a movie starring Lady Thor, and Urban, like a good sport blurted out that […]
When a well established movie franchise wants to go turbo and use their first big FEMALE villain, the go-to- gal is deinfitley Cate Blanchett. And Marvel has totally stolen The Beat’s gimmick with this 31 days […]

I speak of the trailer for Thor: Ragnarok, of course, with its Tumblr-worthy hammer crushing and hero shearing and […]
The Thor movies have been kinda the runt of the Marvel Studios litter, and while the years, I think, have proven kind to the initial Kenneth Branagh-directed entry, they still pale in comparison to the Captain America films or any of the flashier character kick-offs within that same canon. But Thor: Ragnarok is looking to […]
Debuting in the coming issue of Entertainment Weekly, we get our first real look at the upcoming third Thor movie from Marvel Studios, Thor: Ragnarok. Normally this would be a moment of some dubiousness given the track record of this particular portion of the MCU (the problem child being the second one moreso than the […]
Faithful readers, do you recall that amazing “what Thor was up to during Civil War” mockumentary short that made its way online a few months after it debuted at SDCC (a thing I basically never stopped talking about after Hannah and I saw it in Hall H)? Well, now, Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, Chris […]
