Just ahead of Turkey Day, here’s a fun bit of news to chew on. Jude Law is headed to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Per Variety, he’ll be joining Brie Larson in Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck’s Captain Marvel for the studio. Law is set to play Dr. Walter Lawson aka Mar-Vell, who becomes a mentor to Larson’s Carol Danvers as she begins to navigate her emerging power-set.
In addition to Law hopping into the film, Variety also confirms that Ben Mendelsohn is indeed on-board to play the villain of the piece, presumably the leader of the Skrulls as they were the announced antagonists at this year’s San Diego Comic Con.
I think the element of this that interests me the most is its 90’s setting, which means Larson’s Danvers will be about 20+ years older by the time she gets entangled into the Infinity War or whatever the fourth Avengers film will be titled that sees release right after Captain Marvel’s March 8, 2019 release.
Also, what year in the 90’s will this take place? Are we talking flannel or JNCO jeans? This is important.
