Those who try to diligently stay inside the lines will get one of their greatest challenges with the publications of TONY MILLIONAIRE’S SEA MONSTERS COLORING BOOK this September.
While there may be many adult coloring books, there is only one Tony Millionaire, and his intricate, eccentric renderings of all the sea monsters that wander the deep will challenge coloristas everywhere – while firing their imaginations with dreams of ocean adventure.
I’ve never made a secret of my admiration for Millionaire – he’s one of my all-time favorite cafrtoonsits. So mark me down for a copy or two in case I mess up. And as you can see from the exclusive peek inside, it will be spectacular!
Arriving in stores September 2018, step aboard and experience the strange and beautiful world of the award-winning cartoonist with over 40 black and white illustrations with spyglass-like detail as you encounter everything imaginable above and below the high seas along with a couple of special guest land-lubbers. Humor fans and color enthusiasts alike can jump in feet first and bring this madcap, seafaring world to life with the most vivid and ridiculous colors of their imaginations.
“This book is dedicated to Jim Campbell,” said Tony Millionaire. “A number of years ago a guy named Jimmy sent me a copy of a Maakies strip of mine; he had colored it with colored pencils. I had been taught the Fine Art of pen & ink drawing by my grandfather and I thought it sacrilege to color a drawing that was not meant to be colored from the start. He proved me wrong, the comic strip looked wonderful, so I hired him to color a graphic novel I was working on. Now Jimmy has a great job working freelance for big shot comics companies and he’s written, drawn and colored a few books himself. A Rising Star, born from the humble womb of Coloring in Books!”
TONY MILLIONAIRE’S SEA MONSTERS COLORING BOOK is the latest release from BOOM! Studios’ ambitious Archaia imprint, home to graphic novels such as Mouse Guard by David Petersen; Rust by Royden Lepp; Bolivar by Sean Rubin; Jane by Aline Brosh McKenna and Ramón Pérez; and licensed series like Jim Henson’s The Power of the Dark Crystal and Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Coronation.
“Tony is a genius, a millionaire of creativity some might say. And for everyone groaning right now, just know that he would appreciate that joke,” said Bryce Carlson, Managing Editor, BOOM! Studios. “Like so many others, I’ve been a fan of Tony’s for a very long time and I personally and professionally could not be more excited for TONY MILLIONAIRE’S SEA MONSTERS COLORING BOOK. It’s incredibly unique, just like Tony, and true to form he brings an insane amount of detail and hilarity to each page. Good luck trying to stay inside the lines.”
