Wow, in a few short hours, SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD finally opens and Edgar Wright and Bryan Lee O'Malley can stop their incessant promotional wanderings over the face of the earth. In future years, this will always be known as "Scott Pilgrim Week," a mystical, magical time of love and exploration and kung fu training. So much has happened, is happening. Some linkie winkins. To wit, various Twitter feeds have been capturing the progress of a giant Scott Pilgrim banner being erected over the Hilton Bayfront hotel. Yowsa. Scott PIlgrim creator Bryan Lee O'Malley has a thorough list of events he's involved with, including his midnight signing appearance in Toronto, where it all began. Continue ReadingYou know, we've been expecting that this thing will be awesome, and this just confirms it, but seeing it all laid out like that makes us wonder if the movie going audience -- which has recently shown itself to be pretty reactionary and unadventurous -- will really except a teenaged romance comedy with lots of fighting. Either the girls will love the romance and the guys will love the fighting...or the girls will hate the fighting and the guys will hate the romance like they usually do. More to the point, can Hollywood successfully MARKET a movie that has crossover appeal?
