A company that lets cool creators make cool things? Sign us up. Cartoonist Ronald Wimberly (Prince of Cats) and animation producer Mike Rauch (Rauch Brothers Animation) are teaming up for a new venture: Wild Signal, a media company that will release “radical storytelling” in a variety of formats from an eclectic line-up. Creators involved include Julian Glander, Tunde Adebimpe, Saul Williams and more.

“As major media companies retreat from bold, original voices, there’s a pressing need to cultivate a community that pushes radical storytelling forward,” Wimberly and Rauch said in a joint statement. “We believe there’s an underserved audience seeking out work that challenges and inspires them, and we’re excited to collaborate with artists who fill that void.”

Their first release will be the Boys Go to Jupiter Original Soundtrack, a limited-edition vinyl soundtrack of filmmaker and musician Julian Glander’s animated synth-pop musical film. Vocals on the album are from Jack Corbett (NPR’s Planet Money), Miya Folick (ROACH), and Grace Kuhlenschmidt (The Daily Show).

Glander’s eyeball-punching dayglo animation has been seen everywhere, but you may also remember him from his comics collection 3D Sweeties.

A violently orange vinyl record seems like a fitting addition to his oeuvre.

Details are forthcoming on other 2026 Wild Signal projects from Wimberly, writer, musician, and filmmaker Saul Williams, artist Freddy Carrasco, cartoonist Richie Pope, and the musician and TV on the Radio frontman Tunde Adebimpe

Wimberly’s recent projects include LAAB Magazine and Gratuitous Ninja, and his work has appeared in The New Yorker, Nike, DC/Vertigo, Marvel, and Dark Horse.

Rauch is a former Cartoon Network series executive who previously served as Head of Original Animation at BUCK and co-founded the Peabody Award-winning studio Rauch Brothers Animation.
