Kicking off with Ultimate Invasion, Marvel’s revamp of the Ultimate Universe has made for some of the most exciting comics being put out by the publisher in recent years. Fans have fallen in love with the alternate universe takes on their favorite heroes that spun out of the Ultimate Invasion mini-series. The Beat included several books from the line in both our end-of-year list and Best Marvel Books of 2024. But all good things must come to an end, or in this case, an Endgame.

The letter 'U' dissolves with the words Endgame December 31 on it.
The ultimate universe is about to explode?

Ultimate Invasion concluded in 2023 with Howard Stark sealing The Maker in his city for two years. Since then, events in the Ultimate books built towards the city reopening and The Maker’s return, possibly after spending thousands of years in there (time moves differently in the Maker’s city). One of the things that sets this take on the Ultimate Universe apart from for its predecessor is that it takes place in real time. Two years are no almost up and the most dangerous variant of Reed Richards has had plenty of time to concoct some kind of horrifying plan for his creation.

In typical all they’ve revealed so far is an image and a word. However it’s a pretty provocative teaser. Much like the teaser poster for Avengers: Endgame, this teaser for the event has the letter U being dissolved (instead of an A). This could mean all sort of things. One of the other twists for this Ultimate Universe is that this is a universe of The Maker’s creation. Heroes were cheated out of their powers, and villains have become an oligarchy. The teaser may hint that the Maker after being trapped for so long might want to erase it all and start again. Whatever his plan is and how the heroes may (or may not) be able to stop him, we’ll all find out when Marvel releases the full announcement later this week (and likely at San Diego Comic Con). Stay tuned to The Beat for more details on what awaits the Ultimate Universe.
