Is there anything Alex Segura can’t do? From working in comics (DC, Archie, Oni) to becoming an award-winning, best selling author, he’s definitely made his mark as a man of letters. And now he’s bringing it all together (again) with today’s release of DAREDEVIL: ENEMY OF MY ENEMY, part of the Marvel Crime Line – mystery thrillers set in the Marvel Universe. The series was put together by Disney’s Hyperion Avenue and published by Penguin Random House. According to the author:

DAREDEVIL: ENEMY OF MY ENEMY is a Marvel prose/crime novel starring – you guessed it! – Daredevil as he realizes he has to defend one of his deadliest foes, who is on trial for the murder of his worst enemy! When Daredevil realizes there’s more to the death of Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin, than he first thought – he has to become Frank Castle’s defense attorney by day, and try to prevent a bloody gang war from engulfing Hell’s Kitchen by night. It’s a gritty, hardboiled crime novel that I hope you’ll enjoy.

And just in time for the new season of Daredevil: Born Again. Talk about the synergy!

At the Beat we’re huge fans of Segura’s Secret Identity and Alter Ego, a two volume mystery series set in the world of comics that captures all the ins and outs of the industry while crafting riveting mysteries. Enemy of my Enemy sounds like another winner (positive PW review) that might even find a place on our nightstand.

The launch for the book will be taking place tonight in….a cemetery of all places, namely the Celebration Hall of Maple Grove.  Kew & Willow Books is hosting, with Charles Soule leading a conversation with Segura followed by a Q&A and signing. Tickets available here

For those who want to remain with the living, Segura will be at Barnes and Noble in Brooklyn on Wednesday and the Disney Store in Times Square on Thursday.

That’s not all Segura has cooking, but we’ll leave that for a separate hype column.
