The holidays are coming and it’s always difficult trying to find gifts for friends and family members with their various interests, especially a Marvel fan. There’s so much Marvel merch out there that it might be hard to think of the perfect gift for the Marvel zombie in your life. Thankfully, Comics Beat has a Marvel gift guide for that hardcore Marvel fan in your life, from books to apparel and jewelry to Lego.

Ultimate Nullifier not included

Fantastic Four vs. Galactus Lego Set (or other Marvel Lego sets)

Everyone of all ages love Lego, and Lego never disappoints when it comes to their extensive line of Marvel sets. So getting a Lego set for that one Marvel fan shouldn’t be a hard sell. There’s a wide variety of sets that cover the entire Marvel Universe, from Avengers to X-Men. This year saw a set documenting the Fantastic Four’s battle with Galactus to commemorate the new film.

IDW Artists and Artisan Editions

An oldie but IDW Artist Editions never go out of style. These oversized books reproduce the original comic art at size giving a unique reading experience. There’s plenty of books and creators represented from Marvel Comics including John Buscema on Silver Surfer, Jack Kirby on Fantastic Four, Walt Simonson on Thor, and David Mazzucchelli’s work on Daredevil: Born Again. While the Artist Editions are pricey, there are the smaller (and more affordable) Artisan editions that print these books at a smaller size. Either are perfect for the Marvel loving art lover in your home.

A Marvel Unlimited digital subscription

Have a comics fan who loves Marvel but doesn’t want to take up space with longboxes upon longboxes of comics? Someone unwilling to occupy significant space? A year-long Marvel Unlimited subscription is just what they need. Marvel Unlimited has a vast library of comics, ready for either anyone just getting into the Marvel universe or a hardcore fan looking to dig deeper into their catalogue. A year subscription costs $69. However, the Annual Plus tier is $99 and comes with an exclusive membership kit, along with other benefits.

Fantastic Four: Full Circle Expanded Edition by Alex Ross

Alex Ross’s book for Abrams Comics Arts is a great place to start for newcomers to Marvel’s First Family after watching Fantastic Four: First Steps. A strange entity invades the FF’s headquarters and the heroes must investigate the Negative Zone to understand what’s happening.

The big draw here is obviously Ross’ rare interior art and he doesn’t disappoint. There is a standard edition but the expanded edition is where it’s at. It follows Ross’ process creating the book from sketches down to the color guides. The book even contains the all time great story (and inspiration for this book) “This Man, This Monster” from Fantastic Four #51. An absolute must have for fans of the Fantastic Four or Ross.

Penguin Classics Marvel Collection

The Penguin Classics Marvel Collection are incredible entry points for anyone interested in the early history of The House of Ideas. Each book contains a curation of key Silver Age moments for specific characters or in the case of Black Panther, the entirety of the influential “Panther’s Rage“ arc. These volumes contain essays giving both essential context and well measured analysis. It’s a great way to understand what made Marvel characters so iconic from the very beginning.

Editor’s note: And damn do those hardcovers look spectacular!

Apparel from Heroes and Villains

The number of fashion lines geared towards those of a geeky persuasion has grown over the years. Heroes and Villains is a more recent one but they have a great line of Marvel related clothing. From jackets to hats, Heroes and Villains has every Marvel fan covered. The best part is that they feature a wide variety of characters so it’s not just Avengers and Spider-Man. This way your favorite Moon Knight or Doctor Doom fan can rep their favorites.

The Avengers in the Veracity Trap! By Chip Kidd and Michael Cho

Looking for a more recent Marvel book to gift a friend? Then look no further than this story that pits Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Loki in one of the Master of Mischief’s most devious schemes. Chip Kidd’s story works on several levels and saying much more about the plot would ruin the fun. Michael Cho, like Darwyn Cooke before him, draws it all in a dynamic style that evokes vintage illustrations and animation. It’s all exciting and a great gift for anyone who needs to remember just how much fun Marvel comics can be.

Marvel x Rock Love collection

Jewelry with a geeky flair has also become a big thing. For anyone with an equally-nerdy significant other or who has a family member that likes shiny things, RockLove’s Marvel collection is a great place to look. Along with the usual Spider-Man, Wolverine and Deadpool pieces, there are now a few Fantastic Four items. For the fan of Agatha All Along, there’s a replica of the pendant that Marvel’s most infamous magic user wears. Definitely a must give!

Amazing Spider-Man Newspaper Strips

For over 40 years, Spider-Man had a whole different set of adventures on a daily basis in his own newspaper strip. Now Clover Press are collecting those adventures in brand-new hardcover books. Each volume collects a single year of the strip’s adventures. The first four years saw a reunion of the legendary Spider-Man team of Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. creating new adventures for the wall crawler.

adidas’ Marvel x Real Madrid x All Blacks Collection

Black Panther is one of Marvel’s most iconic characters and is celebrating his 60th anniversary this year. Part of that celebration is this collaboration with athletic wear manufacturer adidas. There have been Marvel and adidas team ups before, including work on the movie sequel Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. This team-up though is a limited edition line celebrating not just Black Panther but soccer team Real Madrid and New Zealand’s All Blacks rugby team. It’s a not-to-be-missed buy for that person who loves comics, soccer and/or rugby!
