Marvel has revealed more details on this year’s Pride Month special, Wiccan & Hulkling: Raid of Ultron, including the reveal that singer-songwriter Tegan Quin (of twin pop duo Tegan and Sara) will pen a story focusing on Wiccan and Speed, featuring art by Luciano Vecchio.
Quin, 45, states, “As a twin myself, I truly can’t think of two characters in the Marvel Universe I would have been more excited to write than Wiccan and Speed. Making my Marvel debut with this story isn’t just a thrill, it feels downright magical! And let’s just say Ultrons aren’t that different from certain folks I’ve encountered in the record industry over the years, so spending a few pages crushing one into oblivion was deeply cathartic.”
She elaborates, saying, “I see so much of Sara and me in Wiccan and Speed, especially in how their lives are starting to diverge. Sara and I are both married, but she has two kids and I don’t have any, and that’s created the first real shift in how we experience adulthood — she’s living a totally different day to day life than me. Still, no matter how different our paths become, the genetic bond — the experience of being identical twins — can’t be replicated or replaced. It’s something singular that binds us, and I thought about that constantly while writing this story.”
Quin also notes, “Half of Sara and [I]’s career success probably comes down to our banter — people love watching us tease, fight, and resolve conflict — so I definitely leaned into that dynamic on the page hoping people might enjoy that with Wiccan and Speed!”
Tegan and Sara, who are from Alberta, Canada, and both lesbians, released 11 albums from 1999 to 2022. They previously created the middle-grade graphic memoirs Junior High (2023) and Crush (2024) with Tillie Walden, and other credits include the documentary Fanatical: The Catfishing of Tegan and Sara, which was released by Marvel’s sister company Hulu in 2024. Any plans for another album are currently unknown, although the two continue to tour together.

Wiccan & Hulkling, which’ll be released on May 27, will feature a framing device by Wyatt Kennedy and Stephen Byrne, where the titular couple’s wedding anniversary/family reunion is rudely interrupted by Ultron and his sentries. Zoe Tunnell and Rachael Stott will contribute a segment about Hulkling and his half-sister Phyla-Vell, while Josh Trujillo and Bradley Clayton (the latter making their Marvel Comics debut) will spotlight Viv Vision and her father.
