The Super Bowl LX (60) aired yesterday, and as with every Super Bowl, there came a lot of expensive new commercials for upcoming major films. This year, DC Studios opted to premiere the Supergirl spot during Animal Planet’s annual equivalent the Puppy Bowl, probably thanks to the footage revealing a flashback to when Kara (Milly Alcock) adopted Krypto.
Supergirl releases June 26.
Disney, meanwhile, premiered a new spot for The Mandalorian and Grogu (out May 22) at the big game itself, narrated by Sam Elliott:
A spot for Pixar’s latest, Hoppers (out March 6), also premiered:
Marvel forgoed this year’s event, a first for the studio since 2009 (when they didn’t release a project.) The trailer for their next film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day (releasing July 31), remains under wraps, while all four teaser trailers for Avengers: Doomsday (December 18) rolled out with Avatar: Fire and Ash in December and January.
Still, there were plenty of other movie trailers to enjoy during this year’s event, which we’ve listed by order of release date for your perusal:
Scream 7 (February 27):
Project Hail Mary (March 20):
The Super Mario Galaxy Movie (April 1):
Steven Spielberg‘s Disclosure Day (June 12):
Minions & Monsters (July 1):
The Adventures of Cliff Booth (TBD, Netflix)
You can also watch Bad Bunny‘s half-time show on YouTube. The concert featured performances by Lady Gaga, Ricky Martin, and Los Pleneros de la Cresta, appearances from Cardi B and Karol G, and even brought together two incarnations of the cinematic Fantastic Four with Jessica Alba and Pedro Pascal — seems Marvel’s Multiverse Saga did make an appearance after all.
